Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026.
The short version
SunSite runs entirely on your device. There is no SunSite server, no account to create, and no login. We do not collect, transmit to ourselves, or sell your personal information. The projects, addresses, photos, locations, roof outlines, and PDF reports you create stay in the app's private storage on your iPhone or iPad, and they leave your device only when you choose to share a report. The only outside parties involved are Apple — for App Store purchases and for the Apple Maps imagery and address search you see in the app — and they are governed by Apple's own privacy policy. That's it.
1. Data we handle and where it lives
SunSite is a tool for running an on-site shade survey of a roof and producing a client-ready PDF report that estimates the roof's annual solar access. To do that, the app handles information you create on site, including:
- Project details you type in, such as customer names and addresses.
- Photos you take to trace obstructions like trees, buildings, and hills against the open sky.
- GPS coordinates used to anchor the survey to the roof and compute the sun's path.
- Roof outlines and measured values (such as angles and orientation) you capture during the survey.
- Generated PDF reports produced from the survey.
All of this is stored locally, in the app's private storage on your device. SunSite has no backend server of its own, so this information is never uploaded to us and is never held on any SunSite system. It stays on your device unless and until you explicitly share or delete it.
2. What we do not do
We want to be precise about this, because it's central to how SunSite works:
- We do not collect your personal information, transmit it to ourselves, or sell it to anyone.
- There are no user accounts and no login.
- There is no analytics SDK, no advertising, and no third-party tracking in the app.
- We do not build profiles about you or share your survey data with marketers, data brokers, or any other third party.
Because SunSite has no server of its own, there is no SunSite database, cloud account, or transmission of your data to us to worry about. Your data simply lives where you made it: on your device.
3. Camera and Location
Camera
SunSite uses your device camera to trace obstructions against the sky and to read angles during a survey. These images are processed on your device to compute results and to include in your report. They are not uploaded to us.
Location
SunSite uses your device location to compute the sun's path for the site and to anchor the survey to the roof. Your location is used on your device and is not transmitted to SunSite. Any coordinates that become part of a project are stored locally with that project, just like the rest of your survey data.
iOS controls these permissions. You can review or change SunSite's access to your camera and location at any time in the iOS Settings app, under SunSite's entry or under Privacy & Security.
4. Apple Maps and the App Store (our only third parties)
The only third party involved with SunSite is Apple, in two specific ways:
Apple Maps (MapKit)
SunSite uses Apple Maps for satellite imagery and address search. When you search an address or view the satellite map, those requests are handled by Apple and are subject to Apple's privacy policy. SunSite does not receive or retain those requests beyond the coordinates that end up stored locally on your device.
App Store / StoreKit (purchases)
SunSite Pro subscriptions are sold through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. Apple processes all payments. SunSite never sees your payment card, bank details, or Apple ID. (See Terms of Service for subscription details.)
Apple's handling of these interactions is governed by Apple's own privacy policy, which you can read at apple.com/legal/privacy. There are no other third-party data processors or SDKs in SunSite that collect data.
5. Your control over your data
Because everything lives on your device, you are in control:
- Share when you choose. Your data leaves your device only when you explicitly share a report through the iOS share sheet. You decide what to send and to whom.
- Delete anytime. You can delete any project, photo, or report inside the app at any time.
- Uninstalling removes it. Deleting the SunSite app from your device removes its local data along with it. Note that anything you have already shared or saved elsewhere (for example, a PDF you exported or sent to a client) is outside the app and is not affected by uninstalling.
6. Diagnostics
For on-device debugging, SunSite writes anonymous diagnostic events to your device's local iOS system log using Apple's standard logging (os.Logger). These events stay on your device and are used only for local troubleshooting. They are not sent to SunSite or to any third party, and we do not keep any logs about you.
7. Children's privacy
SunSite is a professional tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us at xianengqi@gmail.com; because SunSite stores data only on the device, deleting that data is something you can do directly in the app.
8. California and U.S. residents
SunSite does not collect personal information on its own servers and has no servers. We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because your survey data stays on your device and is never sent to us, there is no SunSite-held personal information for us to disclose, correct, or delete on your behalf — you can review and delete it directly in the app at any time. If you have questions about your privacy rights under California law or other U.S. state privacy laws, contact us at xianengqi@gmail.com.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change how SunSite handles data, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be reflected here, and continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
